How long do the Advanced Scabies products take to work?
Everyone is different and it depends how long you have been suffering with scabies for. Sometimes, a week of the treatment is all that’s needed, whilst for others will need to use the products for a lot longer, potentially months. Some people still like to use the products after they are clear from scabies as a preventative. The oil and the lotion are the key products to the fight against scabies.
Can the Advanced Scabies products be used on babies and children?
Yes they can, but we do recommend diluting them.
Apply a small amount on your fingertip and apply to a small area on your child (ideally the forearm or back of knee).
- No reaction (redness or itching) after about 10 minutes , Okay to go ahead
- If there is redness /itching – dilute by adding to 1 teaspoon of Advanced Scabies Oil/Lotion, 1 teaspoon of pure sunflower oil/plain lotion. Mix well and re-apply a small amount.
- If no reaction, then you can use this; if there is a reaction you will need to add 1 more teaspoon of sunflower oil/base lotion. Keep a note of the recipe.
- Bath soak – start with 2mls. If no reaction work up to a max of 5ml for children.

Can I use the Advanced Scabies products alongside prescription-based medications?
Yes you can. As all the products are natural it is okay to use alongside prescribed treatment.
Can you use the Advanced Scabies products when pregnant?
Using essential oils is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy. However, after that you can use certain oils with care. One of the essential oils used in the blends is contraindicated but please email us directly (info@katseyeblends.com) and we can discuss how we can help you.
Can you use the Advanced Scabies products while breast feeding?
The general advice, is that while breast feeding, you shouldn’t use essential oils as there is a chance they could appear in the breast milk.
Can you use the Advanced Scabies products if you have epilepsy?
Our products contain Rosemary which is contraindicated for epileptics. Please contact us directly (info@katseyeblends.com) and we can make up a special blend for you without the Rosemary.
How long should I use the Advanced Scabies products for?
We advise to keep applying the products (especially the lotion) until you feel the scabies mites are completely gone – everyone is different to how long this takes and also how long they have been suffering with scabies for. Some customers have reported that you might feel clear and then the itching starts again. That might be because there is a mite that is deeper down and has taken longer to come out or be killed off.
Can you use the Advanced Scabies Lotion on your ears and face?
You can use a small amount of lotion on your outer ear if required, however it is not suitable for the face. If you feel you have scabies on your face, use a dab of our Advanced Scabies Face Spot-On Cream. This should not be used a general face cream due to the strength of the oils present in it, however it is suitable to apply to affected areas with just a dab.
Can I leave the Advanced Scabies Oil on overnight?
No, our instructions are to leave the oil on your body for at least 3 hours and then wash it off (ideally with our Advanced Scabies Shampoo & Body Wash). You then apply the Advanced Scabies Lotion and leave that on overnight.
Can you use normal soap along with the Advanced Scabies Bath Soak?
Yes, just make sure you soak in the bath (containing the Advanced Scabies Bath Soak) for 20 minutes first before using the normal soap to allow absorption of the oils.
Is it normal to see black dots and have more itching when using the products?
Listening to our customers, this is normal especially when using the Advanced Scabies Lotion. As the mites move up to the surface there tends to be more itching.
I have a nut allergy – can I use the products?
You can use some of the products but avoid the lotion. Please contact us directly for further information (info@katseyeblends.com).
Do the products work on drug resistant scabies?
We are Clinical Aromatherapists, not Doctors and cannot claim to ‘cure.’ However, a number of our customers who have had resistant scabies and have had some great results from using the products.
Do the products work on Norwegian Crusted Scabies?
One of our customers used the products with success after suffering from Norwegian Crusted Scabies. It did take some months though and a lot of patience and perseverance.
What would you use for sore sensitive skin?
If you have had a bad skin reaction to the mites resulting in irritation, severe itching or rash then we suggest our “Sensitive Skin Moisturising Cream” to resolve all the skin issues – the cream is made using essential oils which are anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant and regulates skin temperature and so it is very effective in treating all skin rashes and irritations. Do not use on broken skin or open wounds though.
What else can I do?
We advise tackling the mites from all angles. The scabies mites are thought to be able to live off of the body for 2-3 days, so we recommend spraying your house with our Repelling Lice and Mite Spray. This can be used on carpets, soft furnishes and mattresses. You can also put 5ml of our Repelling Lice and Mite Concentrate into the fabric conditioner compartment of your washing machine to make your clothes repellent to the. We also advise:
- Wash clothing and bedding on a hot wash – ideally every day
- If not possible to wash bedding every day, steam iron it along with the mattress every day
- Hoover the mattress, furniture and carpet every day
